A recent article from KFOR News Channel 4 in Oklahoma City, OK. stated that 2 out of 3 people couldn't correctly identify the official state motto for Oklahoma. This is according to a study and survey conducted by SolitaireBliss.com that recently ranked all the states and the basic knowledge of state mottos and symbols by residents. Oklahoma didn't do too well when it came to knowing the official state motto.

Now before you go and get upset, or doubt your Okie credentials, know that there's a really good reason as to why a lot of Oklahomans don't know the official state motto. The biggest reason is that there really never was an official state motto, at least according to researchers and those who have dived into the state's history. No mention of a state motto was found in the state's constitution or other documents. So what is it then?

Now, most people say that "Labor Omnia Vincit" which translates to "Work Conquers All" is the official Oklahoma state motto. The Latin phrase is featured on the great seal of Oklahoma, but there's no mention of it being the official state motto. It's been a debate for years and back in 2012 Oklahoma legislators approved House Concurrent Resolution 1024 which declared "Oklahoma- In God We Trust" as the official state motto. A lot of people still get it wrong and think "Labor Omnia Vincit" is the state motto.

So it's no wonder that Oklahomans are confused as to what the actual state motto is. The study that was conducted by Solitarebliss.com even got it wrong. It was a multiple-choice questionnaire and it didn't include "Oklahoma- In God We Trust" as a choice, only different versions and variations of "Work Conquers All."
