The Queen of Halloween, the Mistress of the Dark herself, the one the only Elvira is back with an all new music video for "Don't Cancel Halloween." I'm a HUGE FAN of Elvira and always will be. I grew up watching Elvira's Movie Macabre every Saturday night and will spend a large portion of the Halloween season this year like all the others re-watching all my favorites. Luckily I have several collections and box-sets to watch.

My love of b-horror films and creature features comes from late night marathons as a kid watching the best/worst horror, monster and sci-fi movies to have ever been made. It was a tradition at the house growing up that we'd eat, do the dishes, get the whole kitchen clean then make snacks in preparation of that evenings TV viewing. For years and years every Saturday night we'd tune in Elvira's Movie Macabre and make ourselves sick eating popcorn, candy and watching terrible b-horror until we couldn't keep or eyes open anymore.

The entire family would get into the act and mom was as big a fan as me, if not more. She loved Elvira and all the crazy, campy and even crappy movies she'd host. There was an unspoken contest every weekend to see who could make the funniest jokes and comments throughout the show and movies. I'd say mom won nine times out of ten. It was a great time and I continue the tradition at my house to this day.

I wish Elvira's Movie Macabre was still on and in syndication. At least you can get some of the movies and shows on DVD/Blu-Ray. Even Hulu, Netflix and other streaming services have episodes of Elvira's Movie Macabre available to watch. I always wanted to go see her live at Knott's Berry Farm. She use to put on a musical or show every year in October for Halloween when the park changes it's name to Knott's Scary Farm.

A few years ago my dream came true. The wife and I were celebrating our 25th Anniversary and went to Hollywood, CA. While we were there we made the quick trip to Buena Park and went to Knott's Scary Farm to see Elvira perform live. It was amazing and I'll definitely never forget it. It was extra special because not only had I waited so long to see her, but it was also the final year that Elvira was going to perform on stage at Knott's. She retired from doing the shows in 2017 so I made it just in time.

It's just not Halloween without Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Now I'll have to go through the collections and start picking out all my favorites and start re-watching them all. I hope the family is ready...
