If you don't like the way your bartender gets things done, start hanging out at these Texas DIY bars.

If your server can't pull off a decent wine pour or your brew is empty and the bartender won't stop chatting with the hottie at the other end of the bar, you might want to try these places. This is self checkout taken to a whole new, and much cooler, level.

There are a couple of new bars in Texas that cut out the middle man, aka the bartender, and let patrons pour their own. Both the self serve bars are in the DFW area with another coming soon to Grapevine. Eventually, maybe El Paso will get one.

Salute Wine Bar offers 40 different wine types, all "on tap", from vineyards all over the world including France, Spain, and California. They're pretty affordable too, running anywhere from $2 - $10 and folks can pour themselves 1, 3 or 5 ounce drinks. You can order by the glass or bottle and they have food too. Read more here.

If wine isn't your thing, Hoppin' in Fort Worth is doing the same thing with beer. They'll soon open a 2nd Texas location in Grapevine. Again, who knows, maybe they'll eventually come to the 915. Once you get there, you're given a "smart" wristband that becomes your tab. (How it works.)

After grabbing your pint glass, tap the wristband on the “tap here” sensor. It then unlocks the coinciding beer taps in which you can pour yourself a glass. Simultaneously, the wristband racks up beer by the ounce. - startelegram

Pretty cool, huh?? There are a couple of other DIY's in Texas and one will come to you. See for yourself ...
