Johnny Cash ‘I Walk the Line’ KLAW Classic [VIDEO]
Today's KLAW Classic was the very first one for the man in Black!
The song, written and recorded by Johnny Cash hit the top of the charts on this date in 1956. According to Cash, he was very nearly married at the time and it was written as a sort of pledge of his devotion.
Cash intended the song to be a slow ballad but was happy that the up-tempo arrangement met with success. When asked why he hummed whenever he sang this song, Cash said, "People ask me why I always hum whenever I sing this song. It's to get my pitch". The humming was necessary since the song required Cash to change keys several times while singing it.
