Lawton's annual Armed Forces Day Parade will take over downtown on Saturday, May 16. Residents should be aware that there will be multiple road closures before, during and after the parade this weekend.

The Armed Forces Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, and the parade will line up at Central Plaza. The parade route will take the parade west down C Avenue and then north on 11th Street. The parade will end at the intersection of Fort Sill Boulevard at Ferris Avenue.

Roads and intersections will close early Saturday morning before Lawton's Armed Forces Day Parade.

Several roads and intersections in downtown Lawton will start being closed off early Saturday morning in preparation for the Armed Forces Day Parade. The City of Lawton indicated that the roads and intersections below will be closed Saturday morning for the parade.

  • C Avenue, Between 6th Street and 11th Street
  • 11th Street, Near C Avenue
  • Fort Sill Boulevard, From 11th Street to Ferris Avenue
  • Connecting intersections and side streets along the route will also see closures.

The City of Lawton encourages drivers to seek alternate routes if traveling downtown, as there will be multiple closures and there may be delays as the parade begins and ends.

The best viewing experience for Lawton's Armed Forces Day Parade will be along Fort Sill Boulevard.

Those who are planning on attending Lawton's Armed Forces Day Parade are encouraged to arrive before the parade start time at 10 a.m. for parking and seating. The City of Lawton encourages residents to sit along 11th Street/Fort Sill Boulevard for the best viewing experience.
