On sure sign that summer is fading away is when we start losing daylight! That time has finally come. Days will begin getting shorter in Oklahoma the further we get into August. And the last sunset at 8:30 p.m. is set for this week.

We won't be getting dark super early yet, but Oklahomans will soon begin noticing the sun setting earlier and earlier. Thursday is when Oklahomans can expect to see the last sunset at 8:30 p.m. After that, the sun will still set sometime after 8 p.m. but it won't set any later. It will just continue setting earlier and earlier.

Oklahoma will still practice Daylight Savings and this year, we will "fall back" an hour on Sunday, November 2. So we have a while to go before we will need to start saving the daylight. For now, Oklahomans will just have to anticipate seeing earlier sunsets then they've become accustomed to this summer.

Oklahoma is expected to lose 50 minutes of daylight in August.

As August goes on, Oklahoma is expected to lose 50 minutes of daylight! By the end of the month, Oklahomans will notice the sun rising after 7 a.m. and setting before 8 p.m. So if you enjoy the summer sun, you better get out while you can! I know I will be spending as many days in my pool as I can before time in the sun runs out.
