It's looking like Thanksgiving weekend will officially be capped off with snow in Oklahoma, or ice, or just freezing temperatures, depending on what actually happens. Local meteorologists have been hinting at the arrival of winter at the first of December, and now that we're getting closer, it's all starting to become a reality.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a pattern change is expected in Oklahoma over the weekend that will usher in winter for the first of December. Below normal temperatures are expected with a chance of precipitation.

Timing of the cold air mass will impact winter precipitation chances in Oklahoma.

The timing of the cold air mass will be the big key player as to whether or not Oklahoma sees winter precipitation with this pattern shift.

If the trough is slow and strong, then the coldest air from the air mass will be directed to Oklahoma and will bring more widespread and heavier winter precipitation.

If the trough is faster and weaker, then the coldest air will be mostly in northern and eastern Oklahoma, and there is a lower chance for winter precipitation.
