The cooler temps and rain showers were nice while they lasted. Early showers Monday morning might be the last time most of Oklahoma sees rain this week. Heat and zero rain chances return to the forecast this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, daytime highs will slowly inch higher and could reach triple digits again by midweek. Most of Oklahoma will enjoy daytime highs in the 80s on Monday, but by Tuesday, almost everyone will be back in the 90s and on Wednesday, Woodward could be the first town to see 100.

Then all of Oklahoma will see daytime highs in the upper 90s and low 100s to end the week. Those hot temperatures are also expected to linger into the weekend.

Rain chances return over the weekend before Oklahoma's next cold front.

Although the week will be dry, Oklahoma's rain chances could return over the weekend. As of Monday, there is a 20 percent for rain on Saturday and a 30 percent chance on Sunday. It's still to far out to determine where it will rain and how much rain is expected to be received.

A strong cold front is expected to move through Oklahoma on Sunday, August 10.

Those rain chances may increase on Sunday as we get closer to the weekend. According to KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan, Oklahoma could see another strong cold front move through on Sunday, August 10.

Morgan hinted that this cold front could once again increase rain and thunderstorm chances for Oklahoma. And Oklahomans also hope it will drastically bring down temperatures again.
