A True Fall Cold Front Is Headed for Oklahoma
Ask any Oklahoman right now and they will say that they are ready for summer to end for good. Several areas of Oklahoma have seen close to 100-degree temperatures the past week, and it looks like relief is on the way. A true fall cold front is expected to blow through Oklahoma. But are the cooler temperatures here to stay?
Areas of southwest, central and northeast Oklahoma are really feeling the heat of this second summer on Thursday, Sept. 19. The National Weather Service in Norman has indicated that these areas will feel very hot on Thursday due to the heat and humidity. Heat index values could peak between 100 and 110 degrees. Plus, record high temperatures are expected to be broken in Lawton, Oklahoma, and possibly Oklahoma City and Stillwater.
One more weekend of heat in Oklahoma before a fall cold front!
Oklahoma is expected to have another warm weekend before the upcoming fall cold front arrives. Several areas could see temperatures in the 90s and over 100 degrees Friday and Saturday. But on Sunday, temperatures will start to drop as much as 10 degrees or more as the cold front moves in.
By Monday, Sept. 23, most of Oklahoma will have daily high temperatures in the 80s or below with overnight lows in the 50s.
Will the fall temperatures stay in Oklahoma?
Fall is always a tease to Oklahoma. And it looks like this upcoming fall cold front might not be here to stay. The NOAA eight to 14 day extended forecast still predicts that Oklahoma will experience above average temperatures from Sept. 27 through Oct. 3. But a random change in the weather pattern can't be ruled out!
