Parts of Oklahoma Could Have a White Christmas This Year
Oklahomans are always dreaming of a white Christmas. Every once in a while those dreams come true, but it's not common for Oklahoma to see snow on Christmas. This year though, some areas of Oklahoma could have a white Christmas.
According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, most of Oklahoma is expected to experience a dry and mild winter this year. The almanac also expects the 2024-2025 winter to calmer and gentler throughout the United States.
The Oklahoma panhandle could have a white Christmas this year.
With a calmer and gentler Christmas on the way, it's almost guaranteed that Oklahoma won't see any snow on Christmas. On Nov. 29, The Old Farmer's Almanac released their weather predictions for Christmas this year, and they're expecting the Oklahoma panhandle to see snow on Christmas.
While Oklahoma's panhandle will be celebrating Christmas with snow on the ground, the rest of Oklahoma will have no chance of white Christmas.
Oklahoma's panhandle has already seen a lot of snow this year.
On Friday, Nov. 8, Cimarron County, located at the tip of the Oklahoma panhandle, was in a winter storm warning. The area received over 10 inches of snow over the span of a few days.
While the panhandle received snow, the rest of Oklahoma still hadn't received their first freeze of the season. Most areas of central and southern Oklahoma received their first freeze late this year. The first freeze finally came for most of Oklahoma the week of thanksgiving. So it's no wonder the panhandle will be the lucky ones to get a white Christmas this year.
