This year more than just the 2024 Presidential Election will take place in Lawton, Oklahoma. Residents in Lawton will vote for two City Council positions, Mayor and a city proposition.

Registered voters in Lawton will have the opportunity to vote in a primary election and general election for the City Council positions and Mayor. As for the city proposition, residents will only vote for this during the primary election. After the primary election, the top two candidates for each City Council position and Mayor will be on the ballot for the general election.

2024 Election Timetable for Lawton, Oklahoma

The last day to register to vote in the primary election was August 2. And the last day to request an absentee ballot was August 12. Below are the dates for the primary and general elections.

What will Lawton voters see on the ballot for the primary and general election?

  • Ward 1 Candidates

  • Mayor Candidates

      • Shall City of Lawton Ordinance No. 24-039, otherwise known as Propel 2040, be approved, which does not increase the existing City of Lawton sales tax, but authorizes the levying and extending the term of the existing Two and One-Eighth Percent (2.125%) excise tax authorized by Ordinance No. 19-30 from terminating on December 31, 2034 to a new termination date of December 31, 2040 with the exception of a One Percent (1.00%) existing excise tax which shall be permanent for an indefinite period, effective October 1, 2024, and will be in addition to other excise or sales taxes levied by the City or any other taxing authority, upon gross proceeds or gross receipts derived from all sales to any person taxable under the Oklahoma sales tax code?

What will voters see on the ballot for the general election?

The general election will include the opportunity to vote in the 2024 United States Presidential race. But residents in Lawton will also vote between the top two Mayor candidates from the local primary election. Residents in Lawton's Ward 1 and Ward 2 will also vote between the top two candidates from the primary election.
