A Lawton woman is in an Oklahoma City hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. She's currently in ICU and will hopefully recover from her injuries. So what happened and how did this wife and mother of three end up getting shot? It's a tragic and bizarre story of another innocent victim being shot.

I first heard about this story from KSWO 7 News while wasting time on Facebook. They had it posted on their official FB page and it came across my newsfeed. This poor lady (Katie Gonzalez) was at home playing video games online, which from what it sounds like may have just saved her life. There was a drive-by shooting in her neighborhood and one of the rounds or bullets passed through the house and struck her in the head.

Luckily she had on a pair of Turtle Beach headphones while gaming and live streaming because that's where she was hit. The bullet hit the earphone and went into her ear and head. The headphones did slow the bullet down some and offer a little bit of protection. It would have been a lot worse, and more than likely fatal, if she wasn't wearing the headphones. At the time of the shooting, her three children were home as well.

Her husband (Antonio Gonzalez) was at work when it happened. He got a notice that she was live streaming or gaming online but when he tuned in to watch the screen was blank with no audio. That's when he knew something wasn't right. Later he finds out that his wife has been the victim of a drive-by shooting and was hit by a stray bullet while at home. I can't even imagine what this family is going through right now.

We're hoping she fully recovers and that the Lawton Police Department catches those responsible. The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses and the financial impact this will surely have on all of them. If possible please donate and let's help her and her family recover from this tragic event.
