This week we have opened 2017 by highlighting a group of up-and-coming indy label artist that we think you need to know about in the coming year. It is Thursday, so as is our tradition, we have looked long and hard, scouring the country side to bring you another in our list of great unsigned or indy label artists. Today we venture to Atlanta, GA to feature an artist who's music is as hot as her fiery red hair.

Courtney Dickinson has been called "one of Nashville's brightest rising stars" by several Music City publications, appearing on several "ones to watch" lists for 2017. With a southern charm and a powerhouse voice, Courtney is a young artist who will definitely catch your attention. She has been in the limelight most of her life, starting as an actress and model while still an infant. She moved into dance, joining the Little General Cloggers group at the Grand Ole Opry, which gave her the stage presence and confidence to move onto music.

At age 12, Courtney joined a contest sponsored by her home town radio station Kicks 101.5, where the first prize was the opportunity to perform with Billy Ray Cyrus. Dickinson won the contest and performed Cyrus' "Ready, Set, Don't Go" with him during the radio station's Lunchtime Live event. She then began the continual round trip from Atlanta to Nashville, performing across Music City at events including CMA Music Fest, and with artists like Sugarland and Big & Rich.

Courtney fine tuned both her performances and her songwriting skills until finally, in 2015 she took the chance, moving to Nashville full-time at age 18. Her debut single "Girls Are Gonna", featured on August 15th of that year, cracked the Billboard Country Singles chart, and also charted on the Music Row Country Chart. A self-titled EP followed, as did a second single, "Forever Young". She spent a lot of 2016 working with several songwriters around Nashville to prepare material for her next project.
