Even though stores have fall and Halloween decorations out for sale, Oklahoma is still sweating from summer heat. But some long range models are pointing at a fall-like relief for Oklahoma as early as the first weekend of August.

Summer in Oklahoma often feels like the longest. It typically starts getting warm in April and then the temperature really turns up in July and lingers through September and sometimes into October. Most locals will say that Oklahoma doesn't really get a quintessential fall season because the summer heat never seems to go away before Halloween arrives.

Oklahoma could cool off for a spell at the end of July.

Some meteorologists have seen a whisper of fall in long-range models for Oklahoma. Meteorologist Chris Nunley posted to official Facebook page on July 21 with a graph showing that cool blue over Oklahoma. Right now, Oklahoma is burning red with above average temperatures and high heat indexes, so an shade of blue, according to Nunley, is a "glimmer of hope."

Nunley is watching the July 31 to August 31 timeframe for a cool front that could reignite Oklahoma's rain chances and temperatures below normal. Of course it's not definite, but Oklahomans are used to the weather being unpredictable and predictable at the same time.

Other meteorologists are seeing a break from the heat for Oklahoma at the end of July as well.

On July 21, Meteorologist Mike Collier also posted to his official Facebook page indicating that Oklahoma could see a relief from the heat at the end of July and around the first weekend of August. The relief could be so significant that Collier stated that he will keep his fall hoodie on standby.

The NOAA has not indicated a cool down anytime soon for Oklahoma.

Even though a few meteorologists are seeing a shift in the weather, the NOAA has not indicated to in its extended forecast. The NOAA released its latest extended forecast on July 21 and for its six to 14 day outlook, the week of July 29 through August 4 is still looking pretty toasty. The NOAA expects Oklahoma to continue seeing above average temperatures during this time frame.

The NOAA also doesn't expect Oklahoma to see any rain at the end of July or beginning of August. Once again, it looks like Oklahomans will just have to wait and see what happens with the weather.
