Dry Conditions and Warm Temperatures Return to Oklahoma
After a much welcomed cool down, Oklahoma will return to its regular summer programming with dry conditions and warm temperatures. The good news: it doesn't look like Oklahoma will be back in the 100s for at least the next week.
Two cold fronts recently moved through Oklahoma that brought in below average temperatures and a few rain showers. Luckily Oklahoma will remain right at average daily temperatures through the end of July.
Rain chances will begin to lessen as Oklahoma closes out July. Areas of southeast Oklahoma will still have a low chance of precipitation.
Above average temperatures will return to Oklahoma in August.
For those who thought the below average temperatures would stay in Oklahoma will be disappointed come August. The NOAA's eight to 14 day extended forecast has most of Oklahoma experiencing above average temperatures from July 30 through August 5.
As for precipitation, Oklahomans near the panhandle will experience below average precipitation possibilities while the rest of the state will be at near normal.
When will summer end in Oklahoma?
Oklahomans are used to summer temperatures lingering well into September. The first day of fall this year is Sept. 22, and Oklahoma has had some pretty warm fall days. Last year in Oklahoma, the average temperature in September was 85 during the day and 72 at night, which is still pretty warm. Oklahoma didn't begin to see a real fall cool down until the middle of October.
The first frost for Oklahoma in 2024 isn't expected until late October. Some areas of the state, mostly in the southeast, won't see the first frost until early November.
