Enid, Oklahoma, was struck by a destructive tornado on the evening of Thursday, April 23. Immediately the Oklahoma Standard was enacted by first responders flooding highways to help save Enid residents trapped under debris. On Friday morning, more Oklahomans are are wanting to lend a helping hand, and are being encouraged to reach out to local nonprofits.

Homes in the Gray Ridge neighborhood on the south side of Enid were leveled by a massive tornado. Early reports Thursday evening indicated that residents in the neighborhood were either trapped in their storm shelters by debris or directly trapped under debris. First responders for neighboring communities were dispatched to assist with search and rescue.

In keeping with the Oklahoma Standard, more Oklahoma residents are seeking ways they can help with recovery efforts in Enid.

Enid Mayor encourages Oklahoma residents to reach out to local nonprofits for donations and volunteer opportunities.

On Friday morning, Enid Mayor David Mason posted to his official Facebook page with information on how Oklahoma residents can help those affected in Enid. He encouraged people to reach out to local Enid nonprofits that have already been conducting recovery efforts.

Oklahoma residents are encouraged to reach out to the following local nonprofit leaders in Enid to coordinate donations or volunteer efforts.

According to the mayor, the central drop-off location for donations and supplies will be the Chisholm Trail Expo Center at 111 W Purdue Ave in Enid. The donations will be organized and distributed as needs are identified.
