
How Hurricane Lorena Could Impact Oklahoma
Hurricane Lorena isn't expected to make landfall in Oklahoma, but its remnants could impact the state with heavy rain and flooding this weekend. Another cold front is also expected to move through Oklahoma on Saturday and could increase the potential for rain and flooding.
Hurricane Lorena ramped up from a tropical storm Wednesday morning. It is currently located in the Eastern Pacific, off the coast of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. Hurricane Lorena is expected to increase to a Category 2 by Thursday before making landfall later this week.
By the weekend, Hurricane Lorena's remnants could bring heavy rainfall and flooding into Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma.
A strong cold front will impact Oklahoma Friday afternoon.
False fall is expected to return to Oklahoma as a strong cold front moves through the state Friday afternoon. Northern Oklahoma could see daytime highs in the 50s on Friday afternoon. Depending on how fast the cold front moves, the southern part of Oklahoma could still see daytime highs close to 100 on Friday afternoon.
The front will continue to move south Friday evening and into the weekend.
