Could This Be The Last Hot Summer Weekend In Oklahoma?
It's been a hot last few months of summer in Oklahoma. But a strong cold front is predicted to be heading for the state the last week of August that could usher in fall. So will this weekend be the last hot summer weekend for Oklahoma? Could fall actually come early?
An early fall seems like a near impossible dream for Oklahoma. Oklahomans are used to having a second summer in September. This weekend, before August finally ends, will, of course, be a hot one. Dangerous heat is expected in several areas of Oklahoma, mostly in the southern counties, this coming Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25.
When is Oklahoma expected to cool down?
Earlier this week, local meteorologists across Oklahoma started hinting at a very strong cold front that will be headed for the state by the end of August. Some have even said that this cold front could bring fall temperatures to the state.
On his official Facebook page, KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan stated that Oklahoma will have a "downhill slide" in temperatures starting Tuesday, August 27 and indicated that Labor Day weekend in Oklahoma will see fall-like temperatures. And the best news: he expects temperatures to stay "amazing" after Labor Day. Plus, more rain chances!
News 9 Chief Meteorologist David Payne even said on his official Facebook page that, although summer is still hanging on this weekend, this time next week will be completely different with a "big cold front and rain."
