Oklahoma Freedom set to Compete this Weekend in OKC

This summer, a new league has been introduced in the world of sports – the PBR Team Series. Founded by the PBR (Professional Bull Riders), the Team Series transforms the sport of bull riding from an individual event into one where riders compete in teams. The PBR Team Series is made of eight founding teams, including the Sooner State’s first-ever professional bull riding team, the Oklahoma Freedom.

 The flow of competition in the PBR Team Series is simple!

• Throughout the regular season, each team will compete at 10 events, playing in 28 games, all leading up to a Championship in early November in Las Vegas. Each of the eight founding teams will host a three-day home event, while also competing in two neutral site events.
• During each event day, each team will compete in one five-on-five bull riding game. The game winner will be the team with the top aggregate score.

 After the season got underway July 25-26 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, followed by events in Kansas City, Missouri, Anaheim, California, Nashville, Austin, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the Oklahoma Freedom will compete for the first time in Oklahoma City Sept. 16-18 at Paycom Center. Having gone 3-7 in gameplay, and amassing 13 bonus round points, through the opening four events of the season, the Freedom are currently eighth in the PBR Team Series standings.

The Oklahoma Freedom is led by Head Coach and Oklahoma’s own Cord McCoy, joined by 2009 PBR World Champion Kody Lostroh as Assistant Coach. Their talent-packed roster includes first-round draft pick and 2021 PBR Rookie of the Year Eli Vastbinder, along with two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood who was selected as the No. 1 pick overall in the Supplemental Draft. The contingent also includes World Champion contenders Chase Outlaw and Derek Kolbaba, along with surging young gun Casey Roberts.
