Oklahoma Could Receive Five More Inches of Rain
So far November has been wet and stormy in Oklahoma. And another round of heavy rainfall is expected for Oklahoma at the end of the week. Some areas could see up to five inches by Friday.
Over the weekend, Oklahoma was bombarded with rain, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. As of Wednesday, Nov. 6, Oklahoma has already received more rain than it did in the month of October. Some areas of Oklahoma received up to six inches of rain.
And as for tornadoes, the preliminary count is 13 tornadoes, which has already surpassed the state's record of 12 tornadoes for the month of November set in 1958.
Rainfall expected to begin Thursday in Oklahoma.
Rain is expected to ramp back up Thursday and last through Friday evening. Areas of western and southwest Oklahoma could see anywhere from two to five inches of rain by the end of the week.
Thunderstorm chances are low and luckily, severe thunderstorms are not expected. The main hazard for widespread rainfall is the potential for flash flooding on Friday.
Cool weekend on tap for Oklahoma.
After the rainfall on Thursday and Friday, Oklahoma will see a seasonably cool fall weekend with plenty of sun. But after Monday, rain could return to Oklahoma.
It will be a great weekend to see fall foliage across the state either by taking a drive, hiking or on horseback. This weekend could also be peak fall foliage in Oklahoma as Oklahoma typically sees fall colors at their best during the first week or two of November. Hopefully the cooler weather is here to stay!
