Flash Flood Warnings Could Be In Store This Weekend
A pattern change is on the way for Oklahoma. The rest of the week will be a typical summer with scorching heat, but a cold front will come in before the weekend that will drop temperatures and increase rain chances. And meteorologists are keeping an eye on Friday as widespread rain could lead to flash flooding.
The high pressure system that is currently over Oklahoma is expected to move westward by the end of the week and will allow the return of moisture. Oklahoma will then transition to a rainier pattern which will increase the chances for showers and thunderstorms. The transition will also bring in cooler weather later this week and into the weekend.
Where Oklahoma will receive the most rain is still to be determined. It is contingent on the exact track of the high pressure system.
Widespread showers could lead to flash flooding across Oklahoma.
Rain chances are expected to increase Wednesday evening and continue through the rest of the week and into the weekend. But on Friday, widespread rain is possible that could be heavy at times which may lead to flash flooding. The entire state of Oklahoma could be at risk of flooding on Friday.

Oklahoma may have more cooler weather and rain chances in August.
The cooler temperatures and rain chances coming at the end of the week won't stay in Oklahoma long. Oklahoma is expected to warm back up to its usual August summer temperatures by next week. But according to KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan, for the next two weeks, Oklahoma is expected to have hot, dry weeks and rainy, cool weekends.
