Severe Storms and Dangerous Heat Possible for Oklahoma
Summer is still raging on in Oklahoma! More days of dangerous heat are expected for Oklahoma. But a weak cold front will move through Thursday bringing severe thunderstorms to the state.
Before the cold front heads to Oklahoma, we'll have another day of dangerous heat. High temperatures will be near 100 in Oklahoma on Thursday and heat indices will range from 105 to 113.
Severe thunderstorms expected Thursday.
The cold is expected to move through Oklahoma this afternoon/evening. Storms are expected to develop between 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday. The tornado chances for Thursday are low, but the storms are expected to bring hail up to a quarter and winds form 60 to 80 miles per hour. These storms will have a marginal risk to most of Oklahoma.
Northern Oklahoma will see storms first today. The storms will begin to move south, southeast. Storms could reach southwest Oklahoma after 5 p.m. Thursday.
Dangerous heat will return Friday.
This cold front is definitely a weak one as Oklahoma won't see much of a change in temperatures. Dangerous heat is expected again Friday with more severe storms possible in northern Oklahoma.
After Friday, temperatures into the weekend and next week will continue to be warm. Some areas of northern Oklahoma may see lower temperatures but not by much. And northern Oklahoma may have chances for more storms into next week as well.
