Oklahoma had a nice break from severe weather, but that break is coming to end now that fall has arrived. Oklahoma typically sees an increase in severe weather during the fall, and it looks like it will kickoff on Monday, Sept. 8. Severe weather is expected Monday evening in northwest and western Oklahoma.

Portions of Oklahoma's panhandle and western Oklahoma have to potential to see severe thunderstorms with hail, high winds and possible tornadoes. The severe outlook is slight for part of northwest Oklahoma. This area also has a low tornado threat, an the increased risk of significant hail and wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour.

Storms are expected to take place anywhere from 6 p.m. to midnight Monday. Although, the timing and location could be difficult to predict, so it's important for Oklahoma residents in the risk areas to remain weather aware through Monday evening.

More rain chances expected Tuesday and Wednesday, plus a warming trend.

Northcental Oklahoma could see storms early Tuesday morning. And northwest Oklahoma could see a second round of storms on Wednesday. But the whole state is expected to enter a warming trend this week. Oklahoma residents have enjoyed a few weeks of early fall, but now it looks like that warm September air is returning.

Temperatures are expected to return to seasonably average by mid-week. Across Oklahoma, daytime highs will reach back into the upper 80s and low 90s.
