Severe storms have seemed to subside for most of Oklahoma as summer cranked up the heat. But now it looks like severe weather has returned to the Oklahoma forecast. Parts of northern and western Oklahoma have a chance for severe weather on Thursday, plus southwest and central Oklahoma could see storms as well.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, scattered thunderstorms are possible for portions of western and northern Oklahoma on Thursday. The main threat with these storms will be damaging winds, which could produce 70 miles per hour wind gusts. There's also a concern for localized flooding.

Storms could begin as early as 3 p.m. and could possibly develop through 11 p.m.

Parts of northeast, central and southwest Oklahoma also have a low risk for thunderstorms on Thursday.

Heat Advisory in effect for most of Oklahoma on Thursday.

As well as a chance for severe storms, most of Oklahoma are also under a Heat Advisory on Thursday. The Heat Advisory will be in effect from 1-8 p.m. Thursday. High temperatures are expected from upper 90s to low 100s with heat indices from 105 to 110 degrees.

Oklahoma's weather pattern is expected to change by the end of the month.

Oklahomans may not have to deal with the oppressive heat for much longer. Oklahoma's weather pattern is expected to shift by the end of the month. A cold front could move through by the end of July and bring temperatures down a smidge and increased rain chances. The temperatures may not be fall-like but daytime highs aren't expected to reach 100, so Oklahomans will take it!
