May 8th, 1993, Tracy Lawrence had the #1 song in the country. Two years earlier his life nearly ended. It was May 31, 1991. Tracy was walking his girlfriend to the door of her hotel room when they were confronted by three armed men. The men robbed them and tried to force them into her motel room. Tracy resisted and was shot four times, allowing his friend to escape. Two of the wounds were serious and required surgery. One of the bullets remains embedded in his pelvis to this day.

About 6 months later his debut album, Stick And Stones, was released, launching a career that consists of more than 30 singles and eight #1's. The second of those #1's came 20 years ago - a tune called 'Alibis'.
