
A Warm Christmas May Be On Tap For Oklahoma
If you were holding out for a white Christmas in Oklahoma, it's time to start facing reality. Now that we're almost a week out from the holiday, it's looking like Oklahoma will see a very warm Christmas.
Lately, the NOAA's extended outlook has been pointing towards a big warm-up event around Christmas and into New Year's. And now that we're getting closer to the holiday and the end of the year, it's looking that warm-up is what's going to happen.
The NOAA's latest eight to 14 day temperature outlook is expecting well above average temperatures for Oklahoma from Dec. 23-29.
Oklahoma could see temperatures in the 70s on Christmas.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, a ridge of high pressure is expected to control most of Oklahoma's weather for the next seven to 10 days. This means above average temperatures are expected, some areas could even see record-high temperatures.
Oklahoma is no stranger to record-high temperatures around Christmas. As of Tuesday, Dec. 16, the National Weather Service in Norman is predicting that the coolest temperatures in Oklahoma on Christmas could be 59 in Oklahoma City and 65 in Lawton. While the hottest temperatures could be 78 in Oklahoma City and 84 in Lawton. But most likely, Oklahoma City may see 70 degrees on Christmas with Lawton seeing 74 degrees.

Oklahoma's last historically-warm Christmas was in 2016.
Oklahoma has had some warm Christmas holidays with 1922 and 2016 tied for the warmest. Oklahoma City hit 73 degrees in Christmas day in 1922 and 2016, but in 2016, Lawton and Stillwater were extra toasty and both hit 75 degrees.
