Week of Rain and Storms Expected for Oklahoma
It was a wet weekend for Oklahoma! And there isn't an end in site for rain and storms this week in the Sooner State.
This week, Oklahomans can expect chances for rain and storms through Sunday, May 19. You'll definitely want to keep your rain gear handy! And this week of rain will make yard work next week even more fun.
Severe Thunderstorm Potential for Monday, May 13
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, areas east of I-44 have the potential for severe thunderstorms for most of the day. Storms are expected through 3 p.m. and could produce hail up to quarter size and winds up 60 miles per hour. The tornado potential is very low, but not zero.
Severe Thunderstorm Potential for Wednesday, May 15
Just rain is expected for Tuesday, May 14, but as we move into Wednesday, May 15, a severe thunderstorm potential is expected for Oklahomans in western Oklahoma from Woodward and all the way to Altus. Oklahomans in these areas could see large hail and damaging winds on Wednesday.
Flash Flood/Flood Potential for Wednesday, May 15
As expected, all this rain will bring flash flood and flood potential this week. There's a marginal flash flood risk expected for Wednesday, May 15 for a majority of Oklahoma.
What to expect the rest of the week.
It's a little far out to give definite weather predictions for the rest of the week, but what Oklahomans can plan on is rain. More rain chances are expected for the rest of the week through Sunday, May 19.
