[UPDATE] There has been a change to the route of Saturday's Holiday in the Park Christmas Parade, made necessary by the construction work currently ongoing on second street. The parade will still begin at 2nd and C streets in downtown Lawton, but will now move westbound on C to 11 street. It will travel north on 11th St./Ft. Sill Blvd to Ferris Right, where it will travel east to the third street entrance to Elmer Thomas Park, continuing through the Park and completing at the Museum of the Great Plains.

The annual Holiday in the Park Christmas Parade is this coming Saturday night, November 19th at Elmer Thomas Park in Lawton. There will be plenty of holiday activities, fun for the whole family, getting under way at 3 p.m.

Early activities include face painting, pony rides and bounce houses for kids, senior ceramics, with holiday characters, including the Grinch roaming the park to take pictures with the whole family. The Lawton Food Bank will be on site, collecting food donations of non-perishable food and frozen turkeys.

The main event, the annual Holiday in the Park Parade will begin at 6 p.m., with line-up for the parade starting at 4:30. The parade route will travel north on 2nd street from southwest C, turning into the onto Ferris Ave and then into the park, concluding at Northwest 6th Street, at the Museum of the Great Plains.

Once the parade is concluded, mayor Fred Finch and other member of the Lawton Chamber of Commerce will light the Christmas Tree in the Park. This year, a new concept is being rolled out, as the park Christmas Tree will be covered in an LED lighting system, which will be synced to music, making the tree "dance" to the music being played, as the lights will perform an hour long light show for visitors.

The Holiday in the Park continues through December 31st and visitors are invited to drive through the park nightly as it will be lit throughout December.
