Excessive heat will return to Oklahoma this week. The state enjoyed 11 days of below average temperatures, but the oppressive Oklahoma summer heat will return. Heat indices are expected between 105 and 115 with daytime highs over 100.

Oklahomans know all too well that August can be one of the hottest months of the summer. As usual, summer won't go away without a fight this year. The last few days of July and the first few days of August will see excessive heat during the day and the night time lows will barely bring any relief from the heat.

Daytime temperatures across Oklahoma will range from the high 90s to the low 100s. But what Oklahomans will really be feeling will be the brutal heat indices. The Oklahoma Mesonet is expecting heat index values this week from 105 to 115.

This excessive heat is expected to start Monday, July 29 and last through Friday, August 2. Oklahoma looks to get a little break during the weekend, but not much.
