A recent study found that people in Oklahoma spend nearly $1,000 on Christmas gifts, which equals to over a weeks worth of pay.
BetMGM surveyed over 2,000 people across the United States to find out how much people in each state spend on Christmas gifts and how many days of works it takes to save up enough money to buy the gifts.
Georgia and Missouri spend the most on Christmas gifts.
The states that spend the most money on gifts were Georgia and Missouri. In Georgia, people spend $1,711 on gifts and it takes them 14.98 days to save that up. The average daily income in Georgia is $114.19. And in Missouri, people spend $1,515 on gifts and it takes them 13.63 days to save up enough money. The average daily income in Missouri is $111.17. That's nearly two weeks of work just to pay for Christmas gifts!
South Dakota and Arizona spend the least amount of money on Christmas gifts.
The states that spend the least amount of money on Christmas gifts were South Dakota and Arizona. In South Dakota, people spend $585 on Christmas gifts and it takes them 4.92 working days to pay for it. The average daily income in South Dakota is $118.92. And in Arizona, people spend $644 on Christmas gifts and it takes them 4.85 working days to save up. The average daily income in Arizona is $132.98.
