Oklahoma will soon be shifting out of extreme heat and into normal temperatures after the end of August. A strong cold front is expected to move in Labor Day weekend and will bring cooler temperatures and increased chances for rain. But as we move into mid-September, Oklahoma is looking to experience near normal temperatures, which for some is more mild then they'd like for fall.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, the upcoming cold front will move Oklahoma into a wetter pattern, with the best chances for rain on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31. Temperatures will be cooler compared to what they have been, but the surface level is still warm so it will be muggy increasing the heat index, but again, not as hot as it has been.

Rain on Labor Day in Oklahoma!

Oklahoma is also expected to have rain Monday, September 2 for Labor Day. The National Weather Service said Monday could also bring in milder temperatures under overcast skies with temperatures below 80 degrees.

Near normal temperatures expected for Oklahoma through mid-September.

After Labor Day, temperatures and precipitation chances are expected to be normal/seasonally average. According to the National Weather Service in Norman, average temperatures for mid-September in Oklahoma is around 85 to 90 degrees, so not as cool as one would hope for fall.

Weather patterns can always change!

Oklahomans know a thing or two about weather being unpredictable. Early forecasts predicted the end of August to be extremely hot. And others expected September to be a second summer. Obviously these recent forecasts say otherwise. So for those still holding out hope for the Farmers' Almanac prediction of a brisk and rainy fall for Oklahoma, there's still a chance.
