Chances For Wintry Mix Increases Across Oklahoma Thursday
The forecast has increased the favorability for a second round of winter weather this week. It's now looking like a wintry mix is possible across Oklahoma starting Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning.
Earlier this week, portions of northern, central and northeast Oklahoma experienced freezing rain during the early hours of Monday morning resulting in ice glazed bridges and overpasses. And on Tuesday, local meteorologists hinted at the possibility of more winter weather on Thursday, specifically for portions of southwest Oklahoma.
But on Wednesday morning, the forecast updated and it's now looking like what was supposed to be a light dusting of snow, could now be more snow plus a wintry mix across Oklahoma.
Portions of Oklahoma could see up to three inches of snow Thursday morning.
As always, predicting any type of weather in Oklahoma is impossible to get accurate, but winter weather seems to always be the most fickle. As of Wednesday morning, meteorologists are expecting freezing rain Wednesday evening for portions of Oklahoma and more precipitation Thursday morning.
A long band of snow is expected to move in Thursday morning. Portions of Oklahoma could see anywhere from a light dusting or up to three inches of snow. Freezing drizzle and sleet are also possible for the areas of Oklahoma outside the snow band.
Whatever comes to fruition, it's better to be prepared for that Thursday morning commute than not!
