
Several Oklahoma Counties Hit First Freeze Of the Season
Thursday morning was freezing in Oklahoma, and several counties hit the first freeze of the season. For some, the first freeze came earlier than average. But the cold won't be around for long, Oklahoma will warm up well before trick-or-treating Friday.
Beaver County was the coldest place in Oklahoma on Thursday morning reaching well below freezing at 24 degrees. Mangum, Oklahoma, in Greer County, was the second coldest place in Oklahoma on Thursday at just on degree above Beaver at 25 degrees.
Below are the other coldest spots from Thursday morning:
- Eva - 25 degrees
- Camargo - 26 degrees
- Kenton - 27 degrees
- Hooker - 27 degrees
- Butler - 27 degrees
- Seiling - 27 degrees
- Arnett - 27 degrees
Other areas in western, southwest and central Oklahoma hit 32 degrees Thursday morning marking the first freeze of the season.

Most Oklahoma counties saw the first freeze earlier than average.
Parts of Oklahoma saw the first freeze a few days earlier than average. According to KOCO Meteorologist Damon Lane, Oklahoma City hit freezing Thursday morning. The first freeze this year hit four days ahead of average.
Some areas of Oklahoma may not see the first freeze till mid-November.
Areas along and east of I-44 may have gotten close but didn't hit the first freeze of the season on Thursday. Lawton, Oklahoma, came close to hitting freezing Thursday morning but topped out at 37 degrees. According to the Oklahoma Mesonet, Lawton's average first freeze is Nov. 12.
Oklahoma's furthest southeastern counties are typically the last to see the first freeze of the season. Choctaw County has the latest average first freeze date of Nov. 15.
