The Mace Place

Luckily the vet comes twice a year to preg check our cattle, otherwise the barn would probably never get cleaned.  Sunday was the perfect day for cleaning out the barn.

Yesterday I told you the story of Rowdy, our red heeler/blue heeler mix.  He wants to be a good dog, really he does.  He redeemed himself yesterday morning.  He saved my dog Tooter's life.

No disrespect intended but I wanted to send up white smoke last night at The Mace Place. We have found the perfect socks!

Yes, having a good cow dog is essential when running a successful cattle operation. They can help push the cattle down the chute;  help to bring them in from the pasture; herd them to where you want them. Rowdy is a blue heeler/red heeler mix. Heelers are great cattle dogs! Rowdy is not that dog. He wants to be but, alas, he is not. Bless his heart.

This is always a busy time of the year at our house.  We are weaning the fall born calves from their mommas and the spring babies are being born.  I hate weaning and I love calving!

Calving season is about half way over at The Mace Place. I love calving season. I can't decide if I like the spring calving season or the fall calving season.

I have an old cookbook from David's great grandmother.  I love that cookbook.  If I am going to make anything I have to check the Mace Family cookbook for a recipe first.  If there is one in there I have to make it over any other recipe I have. I guess that's part of being married to a Mace.

Are you a Cesar Milan fan?  I love his techniques, his attitude, his ability to rehabilitate an animal.  He makes me laugh when he wiggles his butt like a dog to show you a certain behavior.  Well now he says you need to live like your dog.  Here's why...

The Peterson Brothers from Kansas are getting more than a little attention for their video parody of LMFAO's "I'm Sexy and I Know It".  Their sister, Laura, helped shoot some of the video while the boys were doing what they do on the farm.  From sun up to sun down they feed, drive tractors and combines, and put up hay.  And star in viral videos like this one.

Last night on Rock Center with Brian Williams, Harry Smith reported on a horse by the name of Neville  Bardos.  Neville was destined for slaughter as he did not make it as a race horse.  But lucky for Nev (as he is called in the barn) Boyd Martin came along and bought him for $799.99 at the county fair.  Now the two of them are destined for the Olympics in one of the most grueling equestrian event
