We're less than a month out from Easter! This year, Easter will take place on Sunday, April 20, and in Oklahoma, residents may find a few eggs in rain puddles. The long range forecaster is pointing to possible rain around Easter Sunday in Oklahoma.

Earlier this year, the Farmers' Almanac released its spring weather predictions and indicated that Oklahoma could see a wet and thunder-filled spring. This prediction was the opposite of what The Old Farmer's Almanac predicted for spring in Oklahoma, which was predicted to be warm and dry.

Now that Oklahoma is getting towards the middle of spring, the weather has been a mix of wet and dry, depending on what part of the state you're in. The first few days of March in Oklahoma saw a historic breakout of severe thunderstorms that resulted in 13 tornadoes in southeast Oklahoma.

Since then, Oklahoma has seen historic high winds resulting in a wildfire outbreak across the central and northeast parts of the state. And recently, there have been a few days of rain with a potential severe storm and tornado outbreak to end the month.

Will April in Oklahoma be wet or dry?

As Oklahoma approaches April, the middle month of spring, local meteorologists are beginning to look further into the month to see what lies in store. KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan posted to his official Facebook page on Wednesday, March 26, and said that he expects April in Oklahoma to start out warm and dry before transitioning into a wet a chilly pattern.

In its spring outlook, the Farmers' Almanac is predicting the weather around Easter in Oklahoma to be "unsettled," which means the atmosphere could be conducive to precipitation and could lead to strong winds and other unpredictable weather conditions, like severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

As for The Old Farmer's Almanac, its spring outlook just has April in Oklahoma to begin with below-normal temperatures. Still a bit far out from Easter though! So Oklahomans will, as always, want to remain weather aware as they begin to make their Easter plans. Some Easter egg hunts may have to be moved inside!
